Sustainability and Environmental Policy
This policy will provide guidelines to assist brush-baby to take an active role in caring for the environment, and promoting and contributing to a sustainable future.
Our Mission:
Our aim is to reduce the impact on the environment from our operations and encourage our workforce and customers to minimise waste by reduction, re-use and recycling methods. We are working hard with our suppliers to drive sustainable sourcing and we are committed to setting targets as a small business that contribute to a sustainable future.Â
Principles:
- Promoting respect for, and an appreciation of, the natural environment among all working at brush-baby
- To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions.
- To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
- To minimise the impact on sustainability of all office and transportation activities.
- To make customers and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy, and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices. To review, annually report, and to continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.
Practical steps
In order to put these principles into practice we will:
Encourage our customers and suppliers:
- Encourage and educate our customers to recycle and re-use through social media platforms
- Offer our customers the option to return their used replacement brush heads, manual toothbrushes and teethers for recycling via Terracycle Zero Waste Boxes
- Encourage our customers to conserve water by turning off the tap while brushing!
- Work hard with our suppliers to drive sustainable sourcing
Our Packaging & Products
- Our packaging is 100% recyclable
- We use recyclable materials wherever possible in our brushes and all of our brush heads are made from recyclable plastic
- Integrate sustainability into all new product development.
- We are members of the Transform WEEE Compliance Scheme and are working with Transform to find ways to reduce the environmental impact of our electronic waste and to increase the collection, and re-use, recycling and recovery of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
Travel and meetings
- Walk, cycle and/or use public transport to attend meetings, site visits etc, apart from in exceptional circumstances where the alternatives are impractical and/or cost prohibitive.Â
- Avoid physically travelling to meetings etc. where alternatives are available and practical, such as using teleconferencing, video conferencing or web cams, and efficient timing of meetings to avoid multiple trips. These options are also often more time efficient, while not sacrificing the benefits of regular contact with clients and partners.
- Reduce the need for our staff to travel by supporting alternative working arrangements, including home working etc., and promote the use of public transport by locating our offices in accessible locations.
Purchase of equipment and consumption of resourcesÂ
- Minimise our use of paper and other office consumables, for example by printing on both sides of paper used, and identifying opportunities to reduce waste.Â
- As far as possible arrange for the reuse or recycling of office waste, including paper, computer supplies and redundant equipment.Â
- Reduce the energy consumption of office equipment by purchasing energy efficient equipment and good housekeeping.
- Purchase organic and locally sourced food and beverages
